About Us
Sovanny Mey, CPA and EA, is the founder of iTaxMasters. A walking example of the American dream come to life, Sovanny immigrated to the U.S. without knowing a single word of English and humbly entered the workforce as a factory worker at an electronic manufacturing company and has worked as a waitress. While in a meeting with a CPA to have her income tax return prepared and filed, Sovanny had questions the CPA refused to take the time to answer. Understanding that people needed help with all kinds of taxes, Sovanny realized this would be an exciting business opportunity and began working towards her goal of obtaining her CPA license and opening her own tax practice. This career combines her two passions: helping people and understanding taxes.
Sovanny earned her B.A. in Economics and Accounting from the U.C. Santa Barbara, has a CPA license and is also an IRS Enrolled Agent, the highest credential awarded by the IRS. Her thirst for tax knowledge has led to her expertise in providing a wide variety of tax, business consulting, and auditing services in the retail, fuel, and restaurant industries. Taking the lessons learned from her negative experience of working with a CPA when she first moved to the U.S., Sovanny is dedicated to helping her clients improve their finances by finding ways to increase cash flow, reduce tax liabilities, and resolve audit exposure through strategic tax planning, applying tax credits and deductions, and maintaining accurate records. And of course, answering any and all of their questions! A detail-oriented professional, Sovanny always has her clients’ best interests at heart and delivers on each client’s objectives through a customized approach.
Sovanny’s entrepreneurial spirit began before she even moved to the U.S. In Cambodia, Sovanny ran a successful tea house and bakery and also helped with her parents’ export business. She has a love for good food and is a world traveler. Sovanny understands that she can best serve her clients by continuing her personal growth which includes learning about other cultures. She is also fluent in Cambodian and conversational in Mandarin and Cantonese and would love to connect to discuss tax issues, talk about improving finances, and more!
